Darkat Great Danes is a small kennel situated in central Victoria, Australia. Both Darren and I purchased the property with the intention of making it home to our family of Danes, giving them the wide open spaces to roam and stretch out. We also love the country side and wildlife and feel at 'one' with nature on our 10 acre abode.

We first fell in love with Great Danes in 1994 when we acquired our first Dane Ch Norsedane Redmond (call name Boston, Boz for short) a tall fawn boy, his pedigree came down from the Danelyne lines (on the Sires side) and Merriwa lines (on the dams side). Boz was titled at 19months of age with a Best Exhibit in Group. As most new comers to the breed, we learnt and realized a lot within the first 2years of showing and association with the breed. In 1996 we purchased another, a fawn bitch from the successful Amasa Kennels in Australia, Ch Amasa MiLady Isabella. Bella was titled at 10 months of age and needless to say we had the bug!
We have since shown many Danes with success, another being 'Grand Champion BIS BISS Amasa Rythyms Musicman' (Bo) Pictured above, the day he achieved his Grand title and winning Runner-up Best in Show.

In 2008, we decided to branch out on our own and start our own breeding program, this is not something we take lightly but with much thought, planning and consideration to all aspects of the breed and its future.
At Darkat, we believe strongly in sound Danes, all our own Danes for breeding are health tested and their results are on view. Temperament is just as important as Health and coincide together.

In less than 2yrs we have breed 6 Australian Champions, all 6 puppies from our recent litter are Multi Best of Breed winners and Multi class in group winners.
Winning Multi Best in Groups, multi class in shows, Best in Show, Best in Specialty Show and Runner up Best in Specialty winning Great Danes.

Members of the Victorian Great Dane Club and New South Wales Great Dane Club.
Also members of the Boston Terrier Club of Victoria and numerous other All Breeds Clubs.

Danes are a big part of our life, they are apart of our family and we could not imagine our life without them in it.
